Goodside Grants
Goodside will give out small grants for creators and performers from time to time. Sometimes recipients are drawn from our existing community. Sometimes they bring new people into our community. Among the grants Goodside has given out over the past years:
- Travel grants to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for writer-performers. These grants were directed primarily at artists with a writing, directing, or producing component to their practice. Artists were evaluated for unique style and/or point of view based on their submission of a portfolio and/or reel. In 2023, we gave seven grants that helped cover housing and/or airfare.
- Grants for screenwriters to option short stories for adaptations. Goodside worked with Writing Atlas to help writer-directors and screenwriters find promising short stories where rights were available, guide them through the optioning process, and then fund the option.
- Writing residencies, which primarily take place in Downtown Las Vegas in conjunction with The Writer's Block bookstore. We provide writers with residencies of up to a month, often people we have worked with in the past.
- Sundance Film Festival travel grants for filmmakers and screenwriters. These have been done in partnership with various funders over the last decade, including Greg Brockman.
If you are interested in partnering to distribute funding to creators, please reach out. We are very good at doing a lot with small bits of money.
